Dwyane Wade was hurting at halftime and spent much of the third quarter recovering in the Miami locker room. He returned in plenty of time to help set Heat history.

LeBron James had 33 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, Chris Bosh added 31 points and 12 rebounds, and the Heat beat the Houston Rockets 125-119 on Sunday in Miami. Wade shook off a bruised tailbone and finished with 30 points and 11 rebounds for Miami, which had three players score 30 or more for the first time in the franchise’s 23-year history.

Kevin Martin scored 29 points, Luis Scola added 28 and Kyle Lowry had 25 points, nine assists and seven rebounds for the Rockets, who had a five-game winning streak snapped.

Wade sealed it with 33 seconds left, taking a handoff from James and making a left-handed layup while getting knocked into a row of courtside photographers for a 120-115 lead. The Heat never trailed in the fourth quarter, taking the lead for good when James Jones made three free throws with 9:22 remaining.

Celtics 85, Timberwolves 82: Paul Pierce had 23 points and seven rebounds, as visiting Boston nearly gave away another huge lead before prevailing.

Kevin Garnett had 13 points, 13 rebounds against his old team. The Celtics led by 25 early in the second quarter, but trailed by two midway through the fourth before Pierce lifted them to the victory. Michael Beasley had 28 points and 10 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who were missing All-Star Kevin Love for the third straight game because of a strained left groin. The Celtics played without starting point guard Rajon Rondo, who strained his right pinkie finger in practice on Saturday.

Thunder 99, Trail Blazers 90: Russell Westbrook hit three 3-pointers down the stretch, including the clincher with 21 seconds left, and host Oklahoma City overcame a 40-point night by Gerald Wallace and clinched its second straight playoff berth. Westbrook’s 3 from the left wing gave the Thunder a 97-90 lead after Wallace missed a jumper with 16 seconds remaining.

Grizzlies 111, Spurs 104: Tony Allen and Zach Randolph had 23 points apiece as host Memphis dealt San Antonio its third straight loss. George Hill matched his career high with 30 points on 9-of-12 shooting for the Spurs. San Antonio, already missing Tim Duncan because of a sprained left ankle, played the bulk of the second half without leading scorer Manu Ginobili, who sustained a left quad contusion.

Lakers 102, Hornets 84: Kobe Bryant scored 30 points, Pau Gasol had 23 points and 16 rebounds, and host Los Angeles inched closer to the top of the overall NBA standings with its 15th win in 16 games. Carl Landry had a season-high 24 points and 10 rebounds, and Chris Paul had 10 points and nine assists in the Hornets’ second game without injured scoring leader David West.

Kings 114, 76ers 111, OT: Marcus Thornton scored 32 points, and former Philadelphia center Samuel Dalembert made two free throws in the closing seconds of overtime as visiting Sacramento won its third straight.

Mavericks 91, Suns 83: Jason Kidd sank a pair of 3-pointers in the final 1:11, and visiting Dallas pulled out a win that may have dropped the curtains on Phoenix’s hopes for a playoff berth.

Hawks 99, Cavaliers 83: Marvin Williams scored a season-high 31 points and Al Horford added 20, as visiting Atlanta won without leading scorer Joe Johnson, who sprained his right thumb Saturday. Williams took advantage of his increased playing time by shooting 9 of 14 from the field, including three 3-pointers, and 8 of 9 from the foul line in 43 minutes.

  • Cleveland’s Hall of Fame radio play-by-play broadcaster Joe Tait worked his first game of the season. Tait had double bypass surgery and an aortic valve replaced in January. Tait, 73, said before the season that he planned to retire in April. He plans to broadcast Cleveland’s five remaining home games.
